Slice of Life - Day 30

 Confidence

Strive to be what everyone else is.
Wear the same shoes,
the same style of jeans.
Grow your bangs out.
Hang out with the "cool" kids.

Leave behind what everyone else is.
Wear what you want
when you want.
No make-up,
wet hair.
Connect with some,
Forget the others.

No more obsession with looks.
No more desireable cliques.
Still, the same discomfort arises.

  1. I watch the middle schoolers try to fit in every day. And then I look at some of my own feelings of inadequacy over clothes, weight, makeup, hair, etc. and think, "Some things never change!" You have definitely captured that here.

  2. This reminds me of the internal conflicts so many adolescents have. However, adults have this too. The exact concerns may be different as we get on in years, but essentially we all worry about fitting in, don't we?
